| Beneath the Surface — Simon Strantzas |
|
Below this world lies another — a world from which all nightmares are born, and to which all our dreams are sacrificed for our very survival.
Collected here for the first time are a dozen tales culled from the surreal genius of Simon Strantzas. Tales of grief, of loneliness, of guilt. Tales of things that live beyond our understanding, that watch us with malignant indifference. Tales of the liminal places that separate our world from that other world, and where all barriers between the two have begun to fail…
There, can you feel it? That shiver down your back? Something horrible is rising from beneath the surface.
Simon Strantzas's work has appeared in At Ease with the Dead and Strange Tales, Vol. II, and also in the upcoming Holy Horrors and Bound for Evil. His previous appearance under the Humdrumming banner was the story of urban horror “Pale Light in the Jungle”, which appeared in The First Humdrumming Book of Horror Stories. Beneath the Surface is the début collection of Mr. Strantzas’s work.
Beneath the Surface also features a witty, intelligent, and highly informative introduction from no less a literary talent as Mark Samuels.

| The Reach of Children - Tim Lebbon |
|
The Reach of Children, the latest novela by Tim Lebbon, is a story of childhood, bereavement and hope, and explores just how far some people — living, or dead — will go to protect the ones they love.
Daniel is ten years old when his mother dies. She dies young, and with so much left to give. He does not understand. He cannot let her go.
After the funeral, his father begins talking to a large wooden box that suddenly appears beneath his bed. And when Daniel whispers to the box one day when his father goes out… it answers back.
It's a voice he does not know. But this voice knows so much.
The novella comes complete with a foreword written by the award-winning Michael Marshall Smith, as well as an Author’s Afterword, making this so much more than a simple novella. Yes, this is a towering monolith of a must have book for both ‘Lebbon Acolyte’ and general horror reader alike.
This is the only planned publication of The Reach of Children and can be pre-ordered in two differing editions, both of which will be formally released in September.

| Ouroboros — Michael Kelly & Carol Weekes |
|
An old man fries eggs for his dead wife; a rubber ball, once-removed from a photograph, tip-taps its way down a set of stairs; animals with agendas and creepy little girls on swings (the kind you'd like to sock in the far end of the schoolyard when no one's looking) watch from roof tops and silent upstairs windows; somewhere in all of this, a snake with a mission creates a circle that draws all of these things together.
When a nosy neighbour, Mick Hamlin, who can't decide the difference between 'concerned' and 'obsessed' breaks into the house of Tom Christiansen, he's about to discover more than just fried eggs and place-settings for dead women. He's about to encounter Ouroboros…
Older people, new lives, old memories, new friends, new terror.
